A selection of recent paintings on canvas reflect themes and ideas generated by the painted urban elevations. 'Flightpath' is a developed version of the airbus heading for Manchester Airport reflected in a Stockport puddle in 'Little Underbank'. 'Pavia; sacristy of the Cathedral' is an elevation developed from the large wooden model of the unfinished cathedral displayed in the Malaspina Gallery in the Castello Visconteo, near Milan. The wood has a variety of varnishes and glazes which are imitated in the painting process. The 'Gru Blu' is based on the Gru Armstrong, a 19th century hydraulic crane, currently the subject of a restoration intervention by 'the Venice in Peril' fund. The circular window is a detail of a lunette by Jacopo Sansovino in San Martino in Venice. it is intended to recreate a morning in Venice with sunlight trapped in the slits in the red awning. The Arco dei Pantani In Via Tor dei Conti, Rome is a monument that deserves more attention as it once permitted access to the Forum of Nerva and the Temple of Mars.
