VIA DEGL'IBERNESI. ROME
January - May 2016
Acrylic on canvas 50cm x 100cm
The street name is derived from its occupation by the Irish community in Rome. A result of the close study was the emergence, right of centre, of a palazzo of 5 storeys 3 bays wide. Marble door frames with carved mask brackets paired window volutes and dressed tufa blocks and voussoirs reveal an aristocratic residence and architect. There are two blocked windows with painted shutters in red ochre, the result of interior restructuring.
